Jor's MOVIE REVIEW of the Thing: Satan's Cheerleaders (1977)

Came home yesterday to find ANOTHER box of movies from Bone Bone, you fucking rule! This time the haul includes Halloween 4, War of the Colossal Breast ( a movie i've seen way too many times, but what harm could one more viewing do?), Playroom, Lawnmower Man, Tales from the Darkside : THE MOVIE, and....

    Satan's Cheerleaders (1977)

    8276D

Ah, what a wonderful time the 70's were. Kids loved to taunt old people with their sexuality (the kids' sexuality, not the old folks), and pop culture was focused on SATAN!!!

So the premise is simple. There's these hot cheerleader chicks (ok, only one is hot, one is ok, and the other two aren't much of anything... maybe they were 70's hot, i don't know...) and they run around doing college co-ed stuff; having sex, flaunting sex, talking about sex... the usual... Anyway, there's also this greasy, satan-worshipping, bedazzled janitor. And when i say he's bedazzled, it's because the be-dazzler has run amuck all over his groovy 70's janitor wardrobe.

But i digress... The janitor, humilated as a result of the girls teasing him with their various parts, decides to curse and kidnap them which doesn't really work out. Oh, there's a cult involved, and a sheriff named B.L Bubb (Get it? It's a joke! IT'S FUNNY!!! *throws confetti*) and some dogs, and some stupid stuff happens, and overall you really don't get to see all that much skin... well, not much of the important skin... This movie has a surprise ending. Surprising in that the people involved saw it thru that far.

This movie combined some great talent. It was co-written by Greydon Clark, who also wrote Angel's Revenge, which starred Jacqueline Cole and Robin Greer, who were also in Satan's Cheerleaders! The other co-writer, Alvin Fast, also produced The Incredible 2-headed Transplant! The Sheriff was played by John Ireland, and besides directing the original The Fast and The Furious, also acted in Santa Barbara along with Kerry Sherman, who played the Star Cheerleader in Satan's Cheerleaders! Kerry was also in some of the best crap TV of that era... She had guest spots on Six-million Dollar Man, Wonder Woman, Hawaii Five-O, Police Woman, Mr Merlin... it goes on and on...

One of these days i'll find a bad movie that stands alone, by itself, in the corner. A bad movie with no link to anyone or anything else that happens to be related to a different bad movie... A movie millions of degrees away from John Saxon. But until then, my search continues.

    10 stars

    The End

What i didn't get was a Satan Worshipper naming their dogs "Lucifer" & "Diablo"... Isn't that kind of insulting to their boss? Kinda like a catholic naming their dogs "God" & "Jesus"...

LOL, you make a good point there. Speaking of evil dogs, ever see Zoltan, the Hound of Dracula?
